Docelles

Docelles is a commune with 955 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges of Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, the Local Government Association, founded in 2002 Vallée de la Vologne and is the fourth largest of the 30 municipalities of the canton of Bruyeres.

Geography

The community is located between Epinal and Gerardmer Docelles in the western foothills of the Vosges.

The territory of Docelles includes a portion of the lower Volognetales, which is up to 1500 meters wide here, at the mouth of the creek Barba and up to 630 meters above sea level reaching ridge north and south of the Volognetales. The lower elevations of 8.74 km ² large municipality area are dominated by residential and commercial areas as well as agricultural land. Reigns on the mountain slopes to about 450 meters above sea level before grazing, while the upper layers are covered with contiguous forests ( the Forêt de Fossard far South to the city of Remiremont ).

Neighboring communities of Docelles are Le Roulier in the north, Deycimont in the northeast, La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges and Faucompierres in the east, in the southeast and south and Xamontarupt Cheniménil in the West.

History

The wooded area and the water power of the Vologne were the main conditions for wood and paper industry, which in Docelles has a long tradition. Instead of an old water mill is a paper mill, which still exists today and the townscape impressed.

In Docelles the first vellum was produced in the paper mill by Claude Krantz in the 18th century.

The population of the municipality Docelles has remained almost constant since the 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Docelles is an industrial community. The largest employer in the city is the paper mill ( Papeteries de Docelles ), which today is part of the UPM- Kymmene Group. Other companies based in Docelles include a paper manufacturing company and a sawmill.

As a small center for surrounding communities numerous craft trade and service enterprises as well as doctors have settled in Docelles. In addition Docelles is an elementary school site.

Transport links

The department Straße 11 ( Epinal La Bresse ) leads past Docelles as northern bypass. On the western boundary of the municipality to Cheniménil the breakpoint Cheniménil - Docelles is on the run by the TER Lorraine railway line Arches Saint- Dié.
