Laveline-du-Houx
Laveline -du- Houx is a commune of 225 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, founded the canton of Bruyeres and to the 2002 Local Government Association Vallée de la Vologne.

Geography
The community Laveline -du- Houx is located in the Vosges Mountains, about 16 kilometers north- west of Gerardmer and 20 kilometers east of Epinal.
The 8.21 km ² large municipality of Laveline -du- Houx extends along the central valley of Vologne Creek Barba to a length of almost three kilometers. The Barba takes up several mountain streams, including the Ruisseau de Pierre Christele.
About 40 % of the municipal area is wooded, especially exceeding 600 meters in the north, south and east. The highest point in the municipality is achieved in the northeast on the municipal boundary to Herpelmont at 710 meters above the sea. The altitude of the valley areas over 500 meters can hardly be economic agriculture, therefore dominate in the upper valleys and on the slopes of pastures.
The municipality comprises the 700 meters separated eponymous districts Laveline and Houx and the hamlets and farmsteads Faing Neuf, Genestat, Hérigoutte, Le Grand Écart and Menémont. Between the hamlets and Houx Laveline a new development area in 2009 in the area behind the hitherto solitary Hall opened.
Neighboring communities of Laveline -du- Houx are Lépanges -sur- Vologne, Fiménil and Beauménil in the north, Herpelmont and Jussarupt in the northeast, Champdray in the east, Rehaupal the southeast, Tendon in the south and southwest, Faucompierre in the west and La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges in the northwest.
History
The name of the church today emerged in 1434 as the first time in documents on Laveline Hout.
The place consisted of scattered hamlets and was one of Tendon, the inhabitants were ( now part of the municipality of La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges ) the parish in the near Saint -Jean -du -Marché. Reported are the market days at St. John's, where agricultural and forestry products were offered.
From 1790 to 1800 Laveline du Houx was part of the community Docelles.
1839 a boys 'school, a girls' school was established in 1871, in the district Hérigoutte was from 1870 mixed primary school.
The archives give little information about the local history, because church records are missing and documents are partially damaged so that they can no longer be identified.
Laveline -du- Houx has no church, pastoral care is taken over by the church in the neighboring Rehaupal. Note the Flurkreuz in the municipality, of which 15 still exist.

Since the 1970s, the trend of population growth in the community Laveline -du- Houx is slightly positive.

Economy and infrastructure
Add place a few small agricultural and craft shops are located, the development of tourism ( holiday houses, guest houses) is becoming increasingly important. In addition Laveline -du- Houx is now estimated by commuters to the nearby industrial zones Docelles as quiet residential area away from the major traffic flows.
Traffic
Laveline -du- Houx is three kilometers from the Vosges department traversing road 417 ( Remiremont Gerardmer Colmar). In the district Houx, the road links La Neuveville - Rehaupal and Herpelmont - Tendon cross. The nearest railway station is eight kilometers away on the community Docelles operated by TER Lorraine railway line Arches Saint- Dié.
