Faucompierre

Faucompierre is a commune with 237 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges of Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Remiremont and founded in 2002 Local Government Association Vallée de la Vologne.

Geography

The community Faucompierre lies in the Vosges, about 20 kilometers north- west of Gerardmer and 18 kilometers east of Epinal.

The 2.45 km ² large municipality of Faucompierre extends along the central valley of Vologne Creek Barba, which forms the southern boundary of the municipality, at a length of 2.5 kilometers. The Barba takes on height Faucompierre from the south with the Ruisseau de Hutte on their longest tributary.

About 15% of the municipal area is wooded, there is a coherent forest area in the north, along the stretches along the southern flank of a ridge 450-640 meters above sea level. The highest point in the municipality is achieved on the north by the municipality border to La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges with 649 meters. In deeper layers of the Barbatales agriculture is operated, which is only restricted to slopes above 500 meters are possible. Therefore, here is dominated by cattle grazing.

The place Faucompierre is highly water resistant in 400 meters wide valley of Barba.

History

The place first appears in 1284 as Fauconpiere in a deed, which named the village of Bruyeres bailiwick belonging. Ecclesiastical Faucompierre belonged to the deanery Tendon Remiremont. From 1790 to 1799 the village was part of the canton Éloyes in the district Remiremont.

The name of the place can be derived from faucon ( = falcon ). The destroyed in the 17th century castle in Faucompierre, of the ruins are still standing, was built in the 12th century by the Lords of Parroy (near Luneville ), who hunted with falcons here.

Economy and infrastructure

In place two farms prime- resident, the development of tourism is gaining by the proximity to the falls of Tendon increasingly important. Most residents of the municipality Faucompierre are now commuters in the nearby industrial areas of Vologne and Mosel.

For the community Faucompierre that has no own church, the Church of Saint -Claude in the neighboring tendon is responsible.

On the southern shore of the department Barba road 11/417 of Remiremont runs over Gerardmer in Colmar. The nearest train station is four kilometers away in community Docelles on the run by the TER Lorraine railway line Arches Saint- Dié.
