Oncourt

Oncourt is a commune with 182 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the department of Vosges in Lorraine. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Châtel- sur -Moselle and the community association Agglomà d' Epinal

Geography

The municipality is located in the Valley of Oncourt Avière, a left tributary of the upper Moselle twelve kilometers north- west of the center of Epinal, capital ( chef-lieu ) of the department of Vosges.

The almost four -square-mile municipality of Oncourt comprises a portion of Avièretales as well as the east and west of the Avière rolling hills that reach to the southeast of the municipal area 377 meters above the sea. Here the ridge that separates the parallel flowing northward rivers Moselle and Avière runs from each other. On the wooded heights ( Forêt de Souche - Thaon ) Oncourt has a share of about 160 ha north of the village center leads the Ruisseau de Mazeley in the Avière.

The Avièretal is farmed intensively.

Neighboring communities of Oncourt are Frizon and Igney in the north, Thaon- les -Vosges in the east, Domèvre -sur- Avière in the south and Mazeley in the West.

Economy and infrastructure

Agriculture and Fortstwirtschaft play in Oncourt still a role. Since the 1990s the church was discovered as a place of residence for employees ' needs in the Moselle Valley near industrial areas, as can be seen in the development of populations.

Transport links

In Oncourt the department of Road 41 Igney after Sanchey and the connection Mazeley - Thaon- les -Vosges cross. A direct connection exists towards Thaon- les -Vosges to the two-lane national highway 57 from Nancy to Epinal. The next breakpoints ( Igney and Thaon- les- Vosges) lie on the line following the Moselle valley Nancy- Epinal - Remiremont, which is operated by the Company TER Lorraine.

Others

The tsunami by the bursting of Bouzey dam in 1895 and the village was devastated Oncourt.
