Moriville

Moriville is a commune in the Vosges department in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Châtel- sur -Moselle and founded the 1999 Local Government Association Moyenne Moselle.

Geography

The 432 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) scoring community Moriville located 22 kilometers north of Epinal. In the west, 25 km ² large municipality reached the Moselle Valley. Moriville is surrounded by large forest areas ( Forêt de Fraize, Forêt de Ternes, Le Grand Bois ).

Neighboring communities of Moriville are Damas -aux -Bois in the north, Rehaincourt in the northeast, Hadigny -les- Verrières the southeast, Châtel- sur -Moselle and Portieux in the West.

History

1114 the village was first mentioned as Murini Villa in a document of Priory Belval (now in the neighboring community Portieux ). Moriville was under the dukes of Lorraine and the Bailiwick in Charmes. Ecclesiastical among the inhabitants of the parish in Châtel -sur -Moselle, part of the Deanery Epinal.
