Socourt

Socourt is a commune in the Vosges department in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of the canton of Epinal and charm.

Geography

The 260 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) scoring Socourt community halfway between Nancy and Epinal is located on the Moselle River in the north of the department of Vosges, bordering the department of Meurthe- et- Moselle.

The Mosel largely forms the eastern boundary of the municipality. Links of the Moselle runs parallel to the Canal des Vosges with its total of 93 locks on the territory of Socourt. Intermediate channel and Moselle rivers and west of the channel numerous ponds were created, some of which serve fish farming.

The section of the valley on the left bank of the Moselle narrows in Socourt, in the north of the municipality ranges the hills directly approach the river.

Neighboring communities of Socourt are Gripport in the north, Chamagne in the east, in the southeast charm, Florémont in the south, southwest, and Hergugney Avrainville in the west.

History

The village Socourt originally belonged together with the neighboring community today Gripport the same spell. The Church in Socourt as part of the parish Gripport belonged to the diocese Nancy and further from Chapter Remiremont was dependent.

Transport links

By Socourt the secondary road D157 leads from Charmes after Gripport. The two-lane national highway 57 from Nancy to Epinal runs in an arc southwest around Socourt. The nearest railway station is located in the near Charmes in the largely following the Moselle valley railway line Nancy- Epinal - Remiremont, which is operated by the Company TER Lorraine.
