Gerbamont

Gerbamont is a commune with 376 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Saulxures -sur -Moselotte and community association VALLONS you bouchot et du Rupt.

Geography

The community Gerbamont lies in the Vosges, 15 kilometers east of the city Remiremont.

The almost 10 km ² comprehensive municipality of Gerbamont extends over a high valley that is formed by the bouchot tributaries La Goutte Mathias and Ruisseau de Peute Goutte and opens towards the west over a low ridge to the Moselottetal. The scattered settlement area extends primarily to western and northwestern slopes along. About half of the municipal area consists of forests, the largest contiguous forest is the Forêt de Goutte Noire in the Northeast. This is achieved with 1023 meters above sea level, the highest point of the municipality. Near the Goutte Mathias source in the south of the municipality, the transition over the saddle Col du Haut de Fouchure (790 m) to the valley of the Ruisseau de Basse -sur -le- Rupt which leads westward to the Valley of Moselotte.

For climatic reasons, it is only in the low-lying valley regions some arable land, dominate instead of meadows and pastures at altitudes of 700 meters above the sea.

Neighboring communities of Gerbamont are Sapois in the north, Rochesson in the east, Basse -sur -le- Rupt in the south and Vagney in the West.

History

The area between Gerardmer and Vagney was settled slowly clearing from the 7th century. It played like the entire Vosges space monks and monasteries founded a central role. Gerbamont was part of the large-scale Ban de Vagney, which also includes the now autonomous communities Vagney, Sapois, Basse -sur -le- Rupt, Saint- Amé and Saulxures included. The Ban de Vagney ever been placed under the dukes of Lorraine and the chapter of Remiremont half.

The Chapel of Saint- Desle (after the Holy Deicola, also Deel, Deicolus, Deille, dent or Dichul called ) was built in 1716. For two centuries Gerbamont was a small place of pilgrimage.

Demographics

Due to the scenic location and favorable land prices, the population of Gerbamont rose from the 1990s.

Economy and infrastructure

In Gerbamont smaller craft shops are located next to a sawmill. In recent years, the tourism offerings have been expanded in Gerbamont. So many single standing houses have emerged. Some of the residents commute to the nearby industrial towns.
