Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle

Saint- Maurice- sur -Moselle is a commune with 1499 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in Lorraine. It belongs to the canton of La Bresse in the arrondissement of Epinal and is the seat of the municipal association Ballons des Hautes Vosges et la Source de la Moselle.

Geography

Saint- Maurice- sur -Moselle is situated on the upper reaches of the River Moselle in the southern Vosges. The municipality is bordered to the south by the region of Franche -Comté and to the east by the Rhine and has a stake in the 1,247 meters high Ballon d' Alsace ( Ballon d'Alsace ). At its southwestern flank is the " quadrangle " - here come together, the four departments of Vosges, Haut-Rhin, Haute -Saône and Territoire de Belfort. Saint- Maurice is the southernmost municipality of the department of Vosges and the entire region Lorraine. Other surveys on the outskirts of the municipality are the Ballon de Servance ( 1216 m) and the Tete de Perches ( 1224 m). It is located in the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

Saint- Maurice is one of the wettest places throughout France and is much visited ski resort.

The municipality consists of the villages of Goutte -du- Rieux and Les Charbonniers.

Neighboring municipalities of Saint- Maurice- sur -Moselle are Bussang in the north, Urbès in the northeast, Storckensohn in the east, Rimbach- près- Masevaux and Oberbruck the southeast, Sewen in the south, Plancher -les -Mines and Haut-du - Them - Château- Lambert to the southwest as well as face -sur -Moselle in the West.

Traffic

The leading through the village of Route Nationale 66 (E 512) follows the old trade route from Metz to Basel and leads east over the Col de Bussang to Mulhouse and in the northwest on Remiremont according to Epinal.
