Dounoux

Dounoux is a commune with 852 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Xertigny and since January 1, 2012 refocused Kommunalverband Agglomà d' Epinal.

Geography

The territory of Dounoux is on average 416 meters above sea level on the plateau of Voge, which forms a portion of the watershed between the catchment areas of Saône / Rhône and Moselle / Rhine.

The 9.23 km ² large, elongated municipality consists of 31% of forest, which is found primarily in the north and south. To the north is the source of the coney, a tributary of the Saône, while near the train station with the Ruisseau de Rainjumenil arises from a small, direct tributary of the Moselle River.

Neighboring communities of Dounoux are Epinal and Dinozé in the north, Arches in the northeast, Hadol the east and south, and Uriménil in the West.

History

The first mention of the village dates back to a document from the year 1390. It related to a share of the tithe, the Jacob d' Ancelle received from the villages Urimenil and Dounnoux.

In the time of the Ancien Régime, the territory of the present municipality of provost in Arches and the abbesses of the Chapitre de Remiremont shelter.

Economy and infrastructure

In addition to some small agricultural and craft shops in the Rue du Tissage a factory ( Prodefica SARL) established that manufactures soaps and detergents. Some employed workers commute to the surrounding larger towns, mainly in the nearby town of Epinal.

The national road 434 ( Epinal Vesoul ) leads in a north-south direction through the community Dounoux. Other road leading into the neighboring communities Hadol and Uriménil. The Dounoux station is on the railway line Nancy- Belfort, which is operated by the Company TER Lorraine.
