La Haye (Vosges)

La Haye is a commune with 141 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Bains- les- Bains and the Local Government Association, founded in 2006 ( Communauté de communes ) Val de Voge.

Geography

La Haye is at an altitude of 360 m above sea level eleven kilometers northwest of Bains- les -Bains, 25 km south-west of Epinal in the south of Lorraine.

The 7.34 km ² large municipality covers a portion of the landscape Voge. The Ruisseau des Cailloux springs on the north west boundary of the parish and forms an up to 200 m wide valley, on the southern slope of the settlement La Haye was created. The creek flows into the eastern part of the neighboring municipality Harsault in the Coney, a tributary of the upper Saône. In the northwest the municipality area comes close to a few hundred meters of the source of the Saône in Vioménil. In a wide- sweeping westward strip is achieved with 461 meters above sea level, the highest point of the municipality.

The area around La Haye is partly used as arable land, partly as pasture, while in the north ( Forêt Domaniale du Ban d' Harol ), in the west ( les Tailles ) and in the south ( Miche - guerre ) Forests dominate, representing over one-third the community area cover.

At La Haye, the Court Bazin heard in the southwest of the municipality.

Neighboring communities of La Haye are Harsault in the east and southeast, Gruey -lès- Surance the southwest, Grandrupt -de- Bains and Hennezel in the west and Vioménil in the northwest.

History

The name La Haye can not be detected before 1611. Until the French Revolution, the territory of the present municipality was part of the Bailiwick of Vesoul in Franche -Comté, changed in 1790 in the newly formed Canton of Bains- les -Bains, the then district Darney. The school and mayor's house ( mairie - école ), 1868, the church of St. Augustine was built in 1831.

Population

The population Harsaults has stabilized somewhat after a slump in the 1980s and 1990s. End of the 19th century were still alive more than 800 residents in La Haye.

The residents of La Haye mainly in agriculture ( grain farming, dairy farming ), employed in forestry and small service businesses in the town or the surrounding area.

The municipality of La Haye is off the national traffic flows. The Department of Road 164 Neufchâteau about Contrexévillenear, Darney, Bains- les- Bains to Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse through the southern neighboring communities Hautmougey and Gruey -lès- Surance. The nearest train station ( Bains- les- Bains ) is situated 14 kilometers southeast of La Haye.
