Vecoux

Vecoux is a commune with 936 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Remiremont and founded to the 2004 Local Government Association, Porte des Hautes- Vosges.

3.1 Road Access

Geography

The community Vecoux on the upper Moselle is located five kilometers southeast of the city Remiremont in the Vosges, in the southeast of Lorraine.

The municipal area of Vecoux include a portion of the Mosel valley and a small area west of the Moselle River. However, the largest part of the municipality covers the entire catchment area of the Ruisseau de Reherrey, a five-kilometer right Mosel tributary. The limits of Reherrey catchment are the ridge lines and calipers to the drainage areas of the east and Moselotte Ruisseau de Moinrupt in the south. With 871 meters above sea level in the far southeast of the municipality 's highest point is reached. The 786 -meter-high saddle of the Col du Xiard to the east leads to the Moselottetal and pedestrians and cyclists only.

The approximately 400 meter high in Vecoux Moselle valley is dominated by residential and commercial areas for agricultural use is little room. The densely wooded area around the Reherreytal part of the 20 km ² Forêt de Longegoutte. The valley floor and the surrounding hillsides are interspersed with mountain farms and pastures.

History

The place Vecoux first appears in 1296 in a document as Vescouz. He belonged to the Ban de Longchamp and thus the influence area of the chapter Remiremont. Together with the small settlement Reherrey the parish in Dommartin was responsible for Vecoux.

1858, the municipality Vecoux was founded, followed by Saint -Louis its own church was built. Vecoux thus is one of the youngest towns in Lorraine.

Demographics

The population of the municipality Vecoux has been the rise in the 1980s, which is due to increased immigration and housing construction, at an approximately constant level.

Economy and infrastructure

Agriculture plays as in the other communities in the upper Moselle valley today only a subordinate role. 2007 were active in the community, two farmers in the area dairy farming and cheese making. The Reherreytal is now accessible to tourists by houses and holiday homes.

The two largest employers in Vecoux are SEMO ( Société des Eaux d' Ogeu minerals ) and BME ( Brosserie Mécanique de l' Est). SEMO ( prior to 1996 known as the PLASTIJO ) mainly produces polyethylene films for automated packaging, drawstring bags and films for frozen and fresh foods. BME is an operation of the brushes of any kind, in particular for use in the industry, is manufactured.

Transport links

The high traffic Route Nationale 66 ( European Route 512) of Epinal on the Col de Bussang to Mulhouse leads from the nucleus separately on the left bank of the Moselle along. Vecoux on the right bank of the Moselle is connected by road with the neighboring communities Dommartin- lès- Remiremont and Rupt -sur -Moselle. At the disused railway line from Remiremont after Bussang today still remembers the street name Rue de la Gare.
