Rugney

Rugney is a commune in the Vosges department in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of charm and founded the 1999 Local Government Association Moyenne Moselle.

Geography

The municipality is located six kilometers southwest of the Rugney small town charm and about 25 kilometers north- west of Epinal in the hill country between the Moselle and Madon.

The 5.73 km ² comprehensive municipal area covers a portion of the Madon Creek Colon, which forms the northern and part of the eastern boundary of the municipality and the southwest of the Colon rising hills. In a sheltered valley of the colon is the village Rugney. From the southwest Coming lead smaller rivers like the Rulle Ruisseau and the Ruisseau du Chanot in the colon. In the south, the municipality relies on a wooded, about 400 m high-altitude plateau (Le Gros Bois, La Brouine, Bois du Gros hêtre ). On the plateau called skin of the Angles, the highest point in the municipality is achieved with 410 m.

Neighboring communities of Rugney are Florémont in the north, Brantigny in the east, Varmonzey in the south, Bouxurulles in the southwest and Savigny in the northwest.

History

Rugney appeared in 1280 the first time in a document as Ruheneix. The village was then part of the Bailliage charm. The inhabitants belonged to the parish in Florémont until the completion of the Church of St. Barbara in 1741 Rugney a separate parish was formed. In today's district Xugney Knights of Malta founded a Commandery in the 12th century.

Demographics

With 105 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Rugney one of the smaller communities of the department of Vosges. After more than 300 people were counted in the 19th century, the population increased steadily since then and fell below 1875, the 100 -inhabitant brand. This was but then again exceeded.

Economy and infrastructure

Agriculture and tourism are the main sources of income of the inhabitants of Rugney. Some residents commute to the nearby city charm or in the industrial estates in the Mosel valley.

Just north of Rugney the highway of charm goes according to Mirecourt. More road connections are available to Bouxurulles and Ubexy. The two-lane national highway 57 from Nancy to Epinal introduces three kilometers northeast past Rugney. The seven- kilometers from the railway station Rugney of Charmes is located on the Moselle valley, following the railway line Nancy- Epinal - Remiremont, which is operated by the Company TER Lorraine.
