Le Clerjus

Le Clerjus is a commune with 576 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Xertigny and based on the 2006 Local Government Association, Val de Voge.

Geography

The 32.9 km ² large municipality covers next to the main town of Le Clerjus the districts of La Fosse, La Landre, Lassus, Le Champ, Le Haut des Champs, Le Molieu, Le Moncel, Manderscheid, Les Censeaux and Sous le Bois. The church in the Voge is at about 410 meters above sea level on a plateau between the currents flowing to the southwest Saône- tributaries Coney and Semouse and thus belongs to the catchment area of the Rhone in the extreme south of the Lorraine region.

In the southeast, the terrain drops abruptly from the Semouse, which also forms the border with the region of Franche -Comté here. The forest area Bois du Clerjus occupies the north-western half of the municipality.

Neighboring communities of Le Clerjus are La Chapelle- aux- Bois in the north, Xertigny in the northeast, Plombières- les- Bains in the east, Aillevillers -et- Lyaumont in the south and Trémonzey and Bains- les- Bains in the West.

History

The name of the question until the early 18th century Clerjoux place can be from the Latin terms Clarus ( clear) and Juris ( wooded height ) can be derived.

Demographics

Since 1968, the population of the town of Le Clerjus declined steadily for several years is a recovery recorded.

Economy and infrastructure

In Le Clerjus small agricultural and craft shops as well as a forestry operation are located. Some employed workers commute to the surrounding larger towns.

The Territory road 164 ( Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse - Contrexévillenear ) leads southwest past Le Clerjus. The station of the spa Bains- les- Bains on the railway line Nancy- Belfort, which is operated by the Company TER Lorraine, located in the municipality of Le Clerjus.
