Montmotier

MONTMOTIER is a commune with 54 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Bains- les- Bains and the Local Government Association, founded in 2006 ( Communauté de communes ) Val de Voge.

Geography

The community MONTMOTIER located at an altitude of 340 m above sea level, 9 km southwest of Bains- les- Bains in the extreme south of Lorraine on the border region of Franche -Comté, large-scale seen in the center of the triangle Vittel Epinal in Vesoul the landscape Voge. The small village lies on the edge of a plateau north of the valley of Coney and south of the forest heights of the Grand Bois.

The area of 4.24 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside east of the upper Saônetals. The southern border is always formed the Coney, who is several river bends here and provide for drainage to the southwest to the Saône. Parallel north of the river runs the waterway of the Canal des Vosges. In the municipality there are two canal locks ( Montmoutier and Gros Moulin ), each with 3.10 m height. The Alluvialniederung of Coney is on average 250 m and has a maximum width of 300 meters.

From the river valley, the municipality's area extends northward over a steep slope to the adjacent agricultural plateau, which reaches a height of 290 m. Continue north dominate extended forests ( Bois de Mont Roche), in which the municipality MONTMOTIER has a share of about 50 hectares. In geological- tectonic respects the terrain consists of red sandstone of the Lower Triassic. The western boundary of the municipality Ambiévillers runs partly along the Ruisseau de la face and its tributary Ruisseau du Bon Vin. The valley system opens in the region of the lock Gros Moulin in the Canal des Vosges. The mill dam of the Gros Moulin impounds Coney on a 5-hectare lake.

Neighboring communities of MONTMOTIER are Fontenoy- le -Château in the north and east, Le Magny in the south and Ambiévillers in the West.

History

The place was a long time in the area of Terres surséance, which was claimed by the County of Burgundy and the Duchy of Lorraine for centuries. By 1508 there were several contracts for membership of the land. It was not until the Treaty of Besancon, signed on August 25, 1704 between Louis XIV and Duke Leopold of Lorraine, the border was finally established. MONTMOTIER came up with some other villages in Lorraine, while Fougerolles was French.

Demographics

With 54 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) MONTMOTIER one of the smaller communities of the department of Vosges. Since the 1960s, only relatively small fluctuations were recorded.

Attractions

Local attractions include a Calvaire from the 18th century, a Lavoir that once served as well, wash and livestock watering, and a water tower.

Economy and infrastructure

The few workers Montmotiers are employed in agriculture and small service businesses in the town or the surrounding area.

The municipality does not have a church. For the pastoral care of the church of Saint Mansuy in the neighboring village of Fontenoy- le -Château is responsible.

The Department of Road 434 Epinal on Xertigny, Bains- les- Bains, Vauvillers to Vesoul leads as the main road through MONTMOTIER. The nearest train station ( Bains- les- Bains ) is located ten kilometers east of MONTMOTIER.
