Jesse Wallace

Jesse Rink Wallace ( * July 7, 1899 in Beardstown, Cass County, Illinois, † January 29, 1961 ) was an American naval officer. In 1940 he was for a short time Military Governor of American Samoa.

Career

Jesse Wallace wrote in 1918 one at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis (Maryland). After graduating, he served until 1952 as an officer in the United States Navy. He reached the rank of captain. Between July 30 and August 8, 1940, he was appointed acting governor for ten days of American Samoa. He bridged the period between the departure of Governor Edward Hanson and the inauguration of his successor, Laurence Wild. After the end of his tenure, he was chief of staff commander of the Ninth Naval District, who had his headquarters in Illinois. He also took part in the Second World War. In 1952, Jesse Wallace retired. He died on January 29, 1961 and was buried in the cemetery of the Naval Academy at Annapolis.
