Musical career

He has published on 14 March 1960, Vogue Records his first single Itsy Bitsy Petit Bikini ( French cover version of Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini), followed by Le P'tit clown de ton coeur ( November 1960 ). In 1961 he moved to Philips, which offered him greater financial opportunities, and stayed there (via the successor company Universal) until 2006 under contract. Since then he has released on Warner Music and now has more rights to its titles. He knew from the beginning to transfer the North American way of life musically in the Romanesque. He played the flagship boy on the beach of the Cote d' Azur, seeking a girl ( Je cherche une fille ) as perfect as the street boys from the Golf Drouot district who could transform his macho attitude sometimes gentle, and was long considered a " chameleon the pop music business. " Hallyday also made several attempts to conquer the German market plate ( inter alia, yes, the elephant of 1962, My life really begins in 1964, Let ' people still talk about 1966, and together with Achim Reichel and Rattles, The old house in New Orleans from 1967).

His first public appearance in Germany ( apart from a " Gag Gig " at Berlin's " bath " in 1961 from ) as part of its Studio Session " Yes, the elephant " in the Hamburg Music Hall saw the Bild newspaper with a " certain disaster lust " opposite ( mirror ): "What is to come to us? ". This can only be understood if one understands Hallyday career as a (French) political. Already at the first concert of the inventory of the performance hall was broken.

In 1963 he managed the unthinkable in Paris. On the Place de la Nation rioted after the open-air Concert 150,000 young French people and destroyed adjacent shops, subway stations, cars, street furniture and fought street battles with the police. This continued in the province. There were too many fans from the workers who gathered at his concerts and their dissatisfaction with the social life of a perceived situation procured an expression. This is now considered controversial in France as a "pre -68 expression ." There were striking in contrast to Germany in May in 1968 workers and employees. You have until the diffuse protest of the student body of more practical and personal perspective on: "Let us finally feel right " what " the right thing" was, was not always entirely clear.

Mid-sixties, he took advantage of a dispute between himself and the French folk singer Antoine to one of his greatest successes Song: " Cheveux longs et idées courtes " ( it was about the pros and cons of long hair and short to mind). Hallyday commented on general political phenomena only indirectly: "I 'm lonely [ Je suis seul ] is an invitation into listening in to hear and give the feeling then expression. Ok, that's just Rock! [ that's rock'n roll! ] " In Germany, where he performed his military service in Baden, Offenburg, he stayed behind the successes of similar rock singer back, even if he does not because of the expression of this attitude to life, but because of its scandals and catchy hits a certain popularity obtained.

Uniqueness

Hallyday is one of the biggest stars of the French show business. One of his recipes for success is to give the fans of his music at the concerts the feeling of everyday life then go to the next meeting on, and so not to spread the typical rock aura of another way of life. He is considered the workhorse of the pop musicians. In his long career, he completed 180 tours to date with 15 million viewers and sold by 2008 an estimated 85 million records.
