José Rizal University

The Jose Rizal University is a private university located in the municipality of Mandaluyong City, in the center of Metro Manila in the Philippines.

Location

The university is located on Shaw Boulevard in Barangay Daang Bakal.

Organization

The José Rizal University has two faculties, the College of Law and the Graduate School. Further facilities on a University Elementary School, a high school and a college division.

History

The University's history begins in 1919, when the Far Eastern College was opened by Don Vicente Fabella as a private educational institution. 1922, the college was renamed in honor of the Philippine national hero José Rizal in José Rizal College. The college offered initially only higher levels of education, but opened up over time for other training programs. 1933 acquired the later seventh President of the Philippines Ramon Magsaysay a bachelor's degree at the College. On 2 October 2000, the College of the Commission on Higher Education ( CHED ) was awarded university status.

Sports

The University maintains its own basketball team, the José Rizal University Bombers or just the bomber. They won in 1949 and 1961, the Philippine Championships.
