Kallnach (French Chouchignies ) is a municipality in the administrative district in the canton of Bern Seeland in Switzerland.
Geography
Kallnach considered to be the longest village street in Switzerland. It extends at the foot of the moraine of the Rhone Glacier at the edge of the Great Marsh and is located on the road from Lyss on Aarberg to Kerzers. The town has a railway station on the Broyetallinie ( distance Lyss - Aarberg - Kerzers ).
Neighboring municipalities are started in the North: Bargen, Fräschels Fri, Kerzers Fri, Treiten, Finsterhennen and Siselen.
History
Remains of a Roman road which connected the settlements Aventicum and Petinesca, were found in Aspi. Excavations in 1989 brought to light structures that can be interpreted as a Roman service area, customs posts or horse -changing station. Still in the early Middle Ages, during the 7th century, lived on the territory of today Kallnach novels that could be determined on the basis of found objects and grave goods.
Local nobility
Kallnach had, at least temporarily, a private local nobility. For example, a knight of Berthold Kallnach appeared in records in the years 1255-1265 in appearance. This noble family emerged again on in 1363, as one of Kallnach Christina and her husband Henry of Schünen donates an annual rate of 3 shillings to the Dominican monastery in Bern of half a farmstead in Bern, Mr. Alley. Income from the second half of this paddock were a year earlier donated by Albrecht Schäfer and his wife to salvation, which could indicate a possible family relationship between the two families.

The voter shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 41.6 %, 21.6 % BDP, SP 13.0 %, 5.4 % GPS, glp 4.4 %, EDU 4.1 %, FDP 3.7 %, 2.6 % EPP, CVP 0.9 %.
