Känerkinden is a municipality in the district of Sissach the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Känerkinden lies in a shallow depression on a foothill of the Jura plateau between the Diegter and the Hombergertal.

The municipality is bordered to the north by Känerkinden Wittinsburg, to the east by Buckten, to the south and to the west by Läufelfingen Diegten.

Traffic

Känerkinden is located off the main traffic routes. To public transport in the village is connected by the 108 bus to Sissach.

The nearest motorway junction on the N2 is 2 km west of the village at Diegten.

History

The first mention of Känderkinden dates from the year 1359 as Kennichingen.

Känerkinden was in the Middle Ages a village of the rule Homburg, which passed into the possession of the Bishop of Basel 1305. By 1400 the entire rule Homburg was acquired by the city of Basel. Since 1814 Känderkinden forms a part of the district Sissach with which the village was in 1833 a part of the newly formed Canton of Basel -Landschaft.
