Karl Wilhelm Ideler

Karl Wilhelm Ideler ( born October 25, 1795 in Bentwisch at Wittenberg; † July 29, 1860 in Cumlosen at Wittenberg ) was a German psychiatrist.

Ideler studied medicine at the University of Berlin and received his doctorate in 1820 to the doctor. In 1828, he was medical director of the department for the insane at the Charité in Berlin as successor to Karl Georg Neumann. He habilitated in 1831 and in 1839 associate professor in Berlin. Ideler in 1840 full professor and director of the Psychiatric Clinic in Berlin.

His uncle was the astronomer and mathematician Christian Ludwig Ideler.
