Katusice

Katusice is a municipality in Okres Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. It is located about eleven miles west of the district capital of Mladá Boleslav.

Geography

The municipality is located in a slightly undulating, mostly agricultural area. Through the village the road leads 272 of Bela pod Bezdězem after Benátky nad Jizerou, the road 259 from Mladá Boleslav after Mseno and the railway line Melnik - Mseno. Neighboring towns are Sudoměř in the West, Březovice the northwest, Plužná in the north, the east, and Bukovno Krasna Ves, Kovan and Skalsko in the south.

History

The first written mention of the town dates from 1352nd In the Middle Ages a fortress here to have stood, which was destroyed in the Hussite Wars. Since the end of the 14th century, names of local landlords and property owners have survived. To 1543 it belonged to Hrzán of Harras. 1798 was the place to Franz Anton Špork.

After 1774 a school was established in Katusice. In the 19th century lived here Member of Parliament, agricultural entrepreneur and art patron John of Nepomuk Krouský.

Attractions

  • The church dedicated to the Assumption was first mentioned in 1352. They burned down in 1847 and was rebuilt in 1853-57 pseudo-Gothic style.
  • North of the village lies the wooded hills Bezvel (340 m ) with a sandstone column that can be used for climbing.
  • Set on a former agricultural airfield dragster races take place.

To the municipality next to the place Katusice includes the villages Doubravice, Spikaly, Trnová and Valovice.
