Kemalpaşa is a county and the accompanying county town in the province of Izmir in western Turkey. The district is located in the northeast of the province on the border with Manisa. 2009, the district of 89 084 inhabitants, the city of 69 605.

Kemalpaşa lies on the River Nif Çayı, the little north of the city in the Gediz, the ancient Hermus flows, between the mountains Kemalpaşa Dagi ( Dagi also Nif ) in the south and Manisa Dagi ( Dagi also Yamanlar, Spil Dagi, in ancient times Sipylos ) in the north. The Nif Dagi is one of the mountains which bore the name Olympos in ancient times. The city is situated on the E 96 from Izmir to Afyon.

History

In ancient times, the place was under the name Nymphaeum time as a residence of the Byzantine Emperor. The name was later to Nif. In honor of Atatürk, the city was renamed in Kemalpaşa.

Attractions

In the city itself, the ruins of a palace can be seen, the Emperor Andronikos I Komnenos was built in the 12th century. On the road to Torbalı, about ten kilometers to the south, lies the Hittite rock relief of Karabel. About eight kilometers northwest of the city lies the Ulucak Höyük, a settlement mound, which was inhabited from the Neolithic Age to the Byzantine period.
