Kharovsk
Charowsk (Russian Харовск ) is a city in North-West Russia. It is located in the Vologda Oblast and has 10,079 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located about 90 km north of the Oblasthauptstadt Vologda at the Kubena, a source flow of Sukhona, and thus the Northern Dvina.
Charowsk is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.
History
Charowsk was created in 1900 during the construction of the railway line Vologda - Arkhangelsk as Kubino, was named interim Leschtschowo and Charowski until 1954 under the present name was given city status.
