Khon Kaen University

The University of Khon Kaen ( Thai มหาวิทยาลัย ขอนแก่น, RTGS: Mahawitthayalai Khon Kaen, Khon Kaen University, short MSEs English) is a university in Khon Kaen in Northeast Thailand ( Isan ). It serves as a center for tertiary education in the northeast of Thailand.

History

Even during the reign of King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII ) was the plan of the government of Prime Minister Phibunsongkhram to improve education across the country. First, Ubon Ratchathani was earmarked as the site for a university, but this was prevented by the outbreak of the Second World War. Thailand stood at the side of Japan and could not take any more effort in Isan. This should again only in 1960, during the reign of the dictatorial Prime Minister Sarit Thanarat change. Sarit had grown even in Isan and the attention given to the development of the region.

1962 an institution for further education in the field of engineering science and agriculture has been proposed. It was built in Khon Kaen as the Institute of Technology ( Khon Kaen Institute of Technology). Then you renamed the facility in University of Northeast Thailand.

1963, the campus four km northwest of Khon Kaen has been established, which comprised approximately 3.3 square kilometers. 1965 the Prime Minister's Office officially changed the name of the University in University Khon Kaen, since now universities were also built in other cities of the Northeast.

The University of Khon Kaen in 2014 was the first major public institution in northeast Thailand, which has its sign at the main entrance except in Thai script in Tai Noi font, traditionally the Lao language was written with the labeled. This is a symbol of the regional identity of the North East. The policy of " Thaiisierung " regional languages ​​had long suppressed.

The Center for Tropical Linings ( Tropical Feed Resources Research and Development Center, TROFREC ) is one of the leading research institutes for animal feed in Asia.

Ranking

In the QS World University Ranking 2013, the University of Khon Kaen counted in some subjects of areas of the humanities, as well as medical and biological sciences to the five most prestigious universities in Thailand. In pharmacy and pharmacology, they finished third.
