Kimmo Rintanen

Kimmo Taneli Rintanen ( born August 7, 1973 in Rauma ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player and current coach who has played during his active career, among other things, for the Kloten Flyers and HC Lugano of the National League A.

Career

Rintanen began his career in 1990 in the Finnish League for Lukko Rauma, for which he was active until 1994. He then moved to the league rivals TPS Turku, with which he first Finnish Champion, and 1996 and 1997 runner-up in 1995. In addition Rintanen won with Turku 1997 European Hockey League. For the season 1998/99 Jokerit Helsinki Rintanen joined, but he left after a year again to return to Turku. With TPS, he was in the years 2000 and 2001 re- master before he to the Kloten Flyers of the Swiss National League A changed in 2001, for which he was on the ice for ten years.

The Kloten Flyers announced on 29 November 2010 that they will not renew the contract with Rintanen. Kimmo Rintanen is the highest paid player who has ever played with the Flyers. In January 2011, he was obliged by the HC Lugano for the 2011/12 season.

In February 2013 Rintanen returned to the Kloten Flyers, where he took the post of assistant coach alongside head coach Felix Hollenstein.

Internationally

For Finland Rintanen took part in the U20 World Youth Championship in 1993, and the A World Championships from 1998 to 2004 in part. Furthermore, he stand in the squad Finland at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. Overall graduated Rintanen 155 games for the national team, in which he scored 35 goals.
