2011–12 NLA season
The season 2011/12 was the fifth regular period after the renaming of the former National League A in National League A. Since the NLB champion EHC Visp in 2011 failed in the League qualifier on HC Ambri -Piotta, launched the league in 2011/12 with the same teams as last season.
The ZSC Lions sat down in the playoff finals in seven games against SC Bern through and won for the seventh time, the Swiss Championship.

Mode
Be played by the 12 teams 2 double rounds of 22 games. There are 6 per team per additional matches against three opponents, on the basis of a regional division (East, Central, West ) are fixed. Overall, therefore, denies any team's 50 qualifying matches. After that, the best eight teams in the playoffs determine the champion Swiss style. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played on the mode best -of-seven.
The other four teams determine the playout that team that has to play in the league against the champions of the National League B.
