Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic

The Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic or in short, Kyrgyz SSR or KiSSR (sometimes referred to as SSR Kyrgyzstan) was up to the independence of Kyrgyzstan 1991, a Union Republic of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Development

It was founded on December 5, 1936, based on the existing rate since February 1, 1926 the second Kyrgyz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic ( Kyrgyz ASSR ), which in turn was part of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic ( RSFSR ). The region was declared a Kara- Kyrgyz Autonomous Oblast on 24 October 1924 as part of the Turkestan ASSR at that time.

On 31 August 1991, the Republic declared its independence under the new name Republic of Kyrgyzstan. It was renamed the Kyrgyz Republic in 1993.

The majority of the population were Kyrgyz. By deportations lived many more and different minorities here. In 1990 there were about 100,000 Kirgisistandeutsche here.
