Klaus-Dieter Ludwig

Klaus -Dieter Ludwig ( born January 2, 1943 in Züllichau ) is a former rower from the GDR. Ludwig 1980 Olympic champion was at the helm in the eighth.

The rowers of the SG Dynamo Potsdam in 1966 for the first time world champion, as he drove the quad in Bled. In 1970 he was in two with coxswain Vice World Champion. At the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972, the East German boat won in the cast Dietrich Zander, Reinhard Gust, Rolf Jobst, Eckhard Martens and Ludwig silver behind the quad from the Federal Republic. The following year this boat won in the same team silver at the European Championships. 1975 Ludwig drove the GDR eighth at the World Championships in Nottingham to gold, but was still not taken into account in 1976 for the Olympic Games.

In 1979 he was back in the DDR - eighth and was in Bled once again world champions. 1980 at the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 of eight won in the cast Bernd Krauss, Hans -Peter Koppe, Ulrich Kons, Jörg Friedrich, Jens Doberschütz, Ulrich Karnatz, Uwe Dühring and batsman Bernd Hoeing with Ludwig as helmsman with nearly three seconds ahead of the second placed British. Ludwig was a sports teacher at the People's Police in Potsdam and moved to 1990 Sports Institute in Potsdam.
