Koekelare is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 8535 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012).

Diksmuide located 10 kilometers south-west, Oostende on the Belgian coast 16 km north, 18 km south-southeast of Roeselare, Bruges and Brussels 20 km northeast about 100 km east-southeast.

The next highway exits are located at Jabbeke off the A10 / E 40, Gistel off the A18 and the A17 at Ruddervoorde. In Torhout and Diksmuide are the next regional stations and in Oostende and Bruges keep on regional express trains. In Oostende is a regional airport near the capital Brussels there is an international airport.
