Konstantin Korneyev

Konstantin Nikolayevich Kornejew (Russian Константин Николаевич Корнеев; born June 5, 1984 in Moscow, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who currently plays for Ak Bars Kazan in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Career

Konstantin Korneev began his career at Krylia Sovetov Moscow. For the club he played until the summer of 2003, inter alia, in the third class Perwaja League and the first-class Super League. Already in NHL Entry Draft 2002, he was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the ninth round at the 275th place. From the season 2003/ 04 played the defender at Premier League rivals Ak Bars Kazan. With the Tatars Korneev won in the 2005 /06 Russian Championship.

After three years in the Kazan defender moved in the summer of 2006 in his native city. When army club CSKA Moscow HK Kornejew stood from 2006 to 2010 under contract. In the 2010/11 season he was captain of the team. In December 2010, the defender returned to Kazan.

Internationally

Kornejew played with the Russian national team for the first time at the U18 Junior World Championship 2002 in Slovakia, where he won the silver medal with the team and was elected to the All- Star team of the tournament. He also played at the U20 World Junior Championships 2003 in Canada and 2004 in Finland, where the Russians were without winning a medal.

For the seniors, he was at the World Championships in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 in use. In addition, he was one of the Cadre 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. In the years 2008 and 2009 he was World Champion with Russia. For this he won the 2010 silver and 2007 bronze medal.
