History

Place name

The place name comes from the Slavic Kulmain " Cholmina " or " Chomane " from, and means hill dwellers.

Modern Times

Kulmain belonged to Rentamt Amberg and the district court Waldeck of the Electorate of Bavaria. In Kulmain there were two country aces goods with a jurisdiction such as in open Hofmarken: Kulmain at the church of the Barons of Gobel and Kulmain at the pond of the Barons of Ponzelin. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818 the current municipality.

Incorporations

In 1945 or 1946, until then independent municipality Oberbruck was incorporated. On January 1, 1972, added Zinst. On 1 January 1978 was followed by parts of the territory of the dissolved municipalities Lenau and Oberwappenöst.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: " Under blue shield head, in three covered with a black bar silver tips in red a three-piece silver round church building ( Armesberg ). "

The community leads the coat of arms since 1976.

Twinning

Since 1988, a partnership with the city of Donnerskirchen.

Monuments

  • The former school building in the main street 12 in Kulmain is designated by the year 1841. The building with shallow hipped roof and Steingewänden is registered under the number D -3-77-133-2 as a listed building in the list of the Bavarian State Office of Historic Monuments.

Natural Monuments

The name provides a reference to the Kulmen that rise near the village (see Rough Kulm ). Not far from the village there is the Armesberg.
