Kusel (Verbandsgemeinde)

The community association Kusel is an administrative unit in the form of a local authority in the district of Kusel, in Rhineland -Palatinate. The municipality includes the town of Kusel, and 17 independent local communities, the administrative headquarters are in the eponymous town of Kusel.

History
The community association Kusel was formed on 1 January 1971 from projects launched in the 1960s, first in Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform. She belonged to the Association of Municipalities in the district of Rheinhessen- Pfalz, which were prematurely built within the " voluntary " phase.
After the time of the Bavarian (1816-1946) originating administrative structure, the communities were previously assigned administratively mayors:
- Bürgermeisterei Konken: Municipalities Albessen, Herchweiler, Konken and Selchenbach
- Bürgermeisterei Kusel: City Kusel and communities Blauenbach, Bledesbach, Dennweiler - Frohnbach, Ehweiler, Körborn, Pfeffelbach, Reichweiler, Ruthweiler, Schellweiler and Thallichtenberg
- Bürgermeisterei Theisbergstegen: Municipalities Etschberg, Haschbach am Remigiusberg and Theisbergstegen
- Bürgermeisterei Ulmet: Oberalben

The association council Kusel consists of 28 volunteer council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the full-time mayor as chairman.
