Lahr, Cochem-Zell

Lahr is a municipality in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Treis- carding.

Geography

Lahr is located on a high plateau in the northern Hunsrück between the eastern and Lützbachtal Lying west Dünnbachtal. To Lahr also includes the living space Lahrer mill.

History

Probably from pfalzgräflichem ownership dates back a yard of the Counts of Sponheim, they verlehnten together with other goods in 1413 to John of Schonenburg and after his death, from 1427 to the intermarried with him Cuno of Pyrmont. As tenants are a son of Konrad von Peter Hausen ( 1413 ) and Hanns of Lare ( 1472 ) known ( Konrad Peter Hausen was an alderman of the Beltheimer court from the Petershäuserhof ). After the extinction of the male line of the Pyrmont Good reverted to Count Palatine Christopher Margrave of Baden and Count of Sponheim, who kept it in half and the other half his chancellor Dr. Jerome Veust enfeoffed.

Lahr belonged to dreiherrischen high court Braunshorn, the Electorate of Trier, Pfalz -Zweibrücken ( heirs of the County of Sponheim ) and the rule of Metternich - Winneburg - Beilstein ( heirs of the Lords of Braunshorn ) shared. At times, Lahr was the seat of the bailiff Beilsteiner ( Bailiwick Lahr ). Since he was also responsible for resident outside the Dreiherrischen Winneburg - Beilsteiner subjects, there were occasional legal entanglements.

1773 Lahr belonged to the Official Baldeneck. By the partition treaty of 1780 Lahr coincided with Braunshorn and other places in the Electorate of Trier. 1790, the Earl of Hildesheim be listed as landowners.

A chapel was built in honor of the holy Oranna, probably in place of an older chapel, built in 1784. The church belonged to the parish in the country Lütz Chapter Kaimt cell and Archidiakonat carding.

Beginning in 1794, Lahr under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Parish council

The local council in Lahr consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Blazon: "Under a silver shield head, in a continuous red cross, red in the lower right is a silver plow, top left diagonally to the right a golden cross staff, topped with a golden ear".

The Kurtrierische cross stands for the centuries- long membership in the Electorate of Trier. The plow points to the birth of the village by agriculture in the early Middle Ages. Cross bar and ear are the attributes of the church patron, St.. Oranna, which is called as a helper for earache. According to tradition, she is venerated since the construction of the chapel in 1784 in the village.

Leisure

The Hunsrück- Mosel bike path runs along the outskirts of the village passing through the Luhnhofwald. It is 30 kilometers long and connects the city Kastellaun in Hunsrück Treis- carding on the Mosel.

There are well-marked hiking trails in the Lahr area.

Clubs and groups

There is a volunteer fire department, the association of the village community, the chess club, the church choir Peter Hausen, bowling club, the group "Making age together," the community of women and the youth room.

Attractions

  • Oranna Chapel: The Oranna Chapel in the village center was named in honor of St. Oranna, probably in place of an older chapel, built in 1784. Especially worth seeing is a native of Old Engelport wooden altar dating from the Middle Ages, and the many wood and sandstone figures.
  • Exhibition room: Here old tools and equipment are shown.
  • Bleach Fountain: In earlier times was washed at this location by the housewives laundry. The various lingerie pieces were then spread on the nearby lawn for bleaching.

Education

The children attend the primary school in Lie. Secondary schools are located in Kastellaun, Munstermaifeld and Cochem.
