The Langen ( Hess ) Bahnhof is located in Langen (Hessen) at the 1846 opened Main-Neckar Railway. The station comprises two outer platforms and a central platform and a drive-through track. The station building and platform roofs are under monument protection.

History

The station was established in 1846 as part of the Main-Neckar Railway new building. On 22 June 1846 first section between Langen, Darmstadt and Heppenheim went into operation, the section from Langen to Frankfurt followed on 16 July 1846. As part of the construction of the S -Bahn from Frankfurt to Darmstadt at 2nd June was opened in 1997, there was a major redesign of the station. Since then, he has three platforms for four tracks and a drive-through track towards Darmstadt. 2012 the tracks were renewed in the station area.

In the station since 2009, a 82 m² large service doors of the Deutsche Bahn available, which is operated by a franchisee. The former banking hall is closed. The station has 361 bicycle parking spaces, of which 50 are lockable bike boxes.

Reception building

The two-storey, basement reception building was erected in 1846 on the local side to the east of the track. The classical and symmetrically designed facade has seven axes at the eaves sides. On the ground floor frame coupled arched windows on the sides of a coupled arched porches in the middle. Upstairs, however, rectangular windows are available. The street frontage is further divided by a central projection übergiebelten. A hip roof over a wide frieze and dentil forms the upper end. The platform roof in front of the reception building is supported by union construction period lattice beams on thin columns with narrow capitals of cast iron. The station building is along with the Perron Hall under monument protection.

The two free-standing on the platforms Perron halls that also have cast-iron columns with capitals, dating to 1861. They come from the decommissioned after World War Darmstadt Main-Neckar Railway Station and are also protected monument.

Connection

The station each hour ( Mon-Sun ) from the regional train line RB60 (from the RMV: City Express SE 60) between Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Heidelberg and about every two hours (Mon-Fri ) from the Regional-Express line RE 60 between Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Mannheim served. Then there are the lines S3 and S4, the S- Bahn Rhein -Main, which create a direct connection to Darmstadt ( every half hour ), Frankfurt ( every fifteen minutes ) and Kronberg im Taunus or Bad Soden am Taunus.
