Geography

Geographical Location

The community Laußig lies about 11 kilometers north of haste Castle and 6 miles south of Bad Duben. West of the village flows the trough. When the district Gruna a ferry over the river after Hohenprießnitz. The eastern part of the municipality borders on the Dübener Heide Nature Park. In the local area Laußig is through the decades of mining of sand for the nearby concrete plants, a larger lake.

History

Laußig is first mentioned in 1283. The settlement is of Slavic origin ( probably from the 6th or 7th century ). The first mention of Pristäblich occurs about 1371 as " Prestewelig " (the name is also of Slavic origin ). Due to its convenient location at a ford over the trough Gruna is first mentioned in 1285. Since the year 1893, the municipality has a rail connection. On 1 July 2007, Laußig united with Kossa for new community Laußig after they already managing community Laußig had previously formed.

In Laußig there are two major concrete plants and a company with the business machinery and equipment.

Train

In Laußig is a primary school. The former high school was converted into a Rural Community Centre ( LBZ ).

Traffic

The state road 11 from Eilenburg to Bad Duben through the community Laußig.

Laußig also lies on the railway line Pretzschendorf Rush Castle ( Duebener Heath -Bahn ). The rail transport ( regional rail ) from the Deutsche Bahn in the section Bad Schmiedeberg 1998 - set Eilenburg East. The Laußig train station, the breakpoint in the district Pristäblich are therefore without timetabled connections. Since then takes place only special train and freight between Laußig and hurry castle. In 2005, the route of the German regional railway was leased, which could prevent the end of 2007, the cancellation of the remaining regional rail transport between Wittenberg and Bad Schmiedeberg through the use of a needs-based railcar in cooperation with the State of Saxony- Anhalt.
