Lawrence Shields

Lawrence Shields (Marion Lawrence " Larry " Shields, born March 5, 1895 in West Chester, Pennsylvania, † February 19, 1976 in Rochester, Minnesota) was an American middle distance runner who in 1920 was successful over the years.

He was 1.70 m tall, 66 kg in weight and started for the Meadow Brook Club.

After ending his playing career, he became a lecturer at the Phillips Academy in Andover (Massachusetts ).

At the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920, he launched more than 1500 m, and at the team's run over 3000 meters. Over 1500 meters, he qualified as a leading third in estimated 4:07,4 ( was stopped only time the winner ) min for the final, in which he the bronze medal behind the two Britons Albert Hill ( 4:01,8 min ) and the three meters past Philip Noel -Baker (estimated 4:02,3 min) won.
