League of Ireland Cup

The League of Ireland Cup is an Irish football competition organized by the Irish Football Association ( Football Association of Ireland), in which all teams in the League of Ireland can participate.

Derry City is ten tracks record winner of the competition.

Mode

The competition format has changed frequently in recent years. For a long time there were six groups, which were divided along regional lines. The winners and the two best runners- played in the Cup mode from the winner. In the 1990s, the competition was held exclusively in the Cup mode. However, it changed the concept again and again plays into groups, this time from three teams consisting solely of winner and reached the next round. 2006 was played again in pure Cup mode, where the draw for the first round was done from a regional perspective.

Also, the mode of the Finals was revised several times. There were versions with neutral final places two finals or a draw who gets the home advantage in the final game.
