Lechința

Lechinţa ( Lechnitz German, Hungarian Szászlekence, Transylvanian Saxon Lachenz ) is a municipality in Bistrita-Nasaud county in Transylvania, Romania.

Of the twenty kilometers southwest of the district capital Bistrita ( Bistrita ), this market town, was the largest rural municipality in the former Nösnergau. First documented mention in writing in a papal document from the year 1333 under the name Lekenche.

The name originated from " Lech " ( = arid ) and " nitz " ( = stream ).
