Ledringhem
Ledringhem (Dutch Ledringem ) is a commune with 679 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Nord, in the Nord -Pas -de -Calais.
The origin of the place probably goes back to the time of the Roman colonization of Gaul. The name of the place could be derived from patria Ledrae, the name of a Gallic chieftain ( Menapii ). The thesis is confirmed by the discovery of a large coin hoard of Roman times the end of the 19th century.
During the Second World War, the city was the site of the Battle of Ledringhem, when faced the British and German troops. A military cemetery commemorates this battle.
