Lee Camp (footballer)

Lee Michael John Camp ( born August 22, 1984 in Derby) is an England -born Northern Irish football player who is since September 2013 at West Bromwich Albion under contract. Since 2011 he is also active for the Northern Ireland national team.

Club career

Derby County

Lee Camp began his professional career in the 2002/03 season with his hometown club Derby County. In January 2003, he moved on loan to Burton Albion and for the last games of the season to Queens Park Rangers. 2004 Lee Camp was first appointed to the English U-21 national team. By 2007, he completed five games for the youth team. A renewed lending led Camp 2006 to Norwich City. In early 2007, he moved on loan to Queens Park Rangers for which he had already been active in 2003.

Queens Park Rangers

In July 2007, Camp Derby County left and moved for about £ 300,000 to the Rangers. He signed a three-year contract with the London club. In the 2007 /08 season, Lee Camp came out as the goalkeeper and played all league games for his new club. At the beginning of the season 2008/ 09 he was able to hold his place.

Nottingham Forest

End of October 2008, he moved again on loan to a new club. This time it took him to Nottingham Forest. Camp had with his strong performances decisive role in the relegation of the second-division freshman in the Football League Championship 2008 /09. After completion of the season Lee Camp signed a four year contract with the club from Nottinghamshire.

Also in the 2009/10 season was the undisputed number one camp in the Reds. He succeeded with his team's best season in several years, which ultimately led to a third place behind Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion. In the first play-off round, however, Forest failed in two games at the sixth- and later promoted FC Blackpool. In December 2009, Camp was voted player of the month of the second division. After the season he was also chosen together with his team mate Chris Gunter into the PFA Team of the Year the second division. Also in the 2010/11 season reached camp with his team through a sixth place the play-off semi-finals. However, towards the Third Swansea City (0:0 and 1:3 ), the team failed as in the year ahead.

Norwich City

After the club Camp announced in January 2013 that his expiring contract is not renewed, he moved on January 23, 2013 to the first division club Norwich City.

Northern Ireland national team

Through his grandfather who was born in Northern Ireland Lee Camp got to play the authorization for the Northern Ireland national football team. This facility used a native of England, and celebrated on 25 March 2011 his debut for Northern Ireland. Opponents in the qualifiers for Euro 2012 was Serbia that prevailed in Belgrade 2-1. Four days later, he played in the match against Slovenia his home debut in Belfast and was 0-0 without conceding a goal.
