Steven Reid

Steven Reid ( born March 10, 1981 in Kingston, London) is an Irish football player. Reid is usually used as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a striker; he is a regular player of the Irish national team and is currently at West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League 2010/11 under contract.

Association

Reid grew up in London and debuted in 1998 as a professional 17 -year-old at the time third-tier London club Millwall FC. 2000 he was with the club in the then second-rate Football League First Division. For the season 2003/ 04 he moved to 158 games for Millwall in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers. In the first year, however, he was still only a reserve player, since the summer of 2004 regulars.

After seven years in Blackburn, he joined in the summer of 2010 at West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League 2010/11.

National

Although Reid is a native Briton who grew up in England, and even played a few games for English selection teams in the youth field, he could be appointed to the selection of the Irish Republic because of his Irish grandparents in 2001. Reid quickly established himself as a regular force, so He participated in the 2002 World Cup, where he did two appearances for Ireland. In total he played (as of 1 September 2006) 20 times in the dress of the Boys in Green, one of which in August 2006 as captain.
