Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras

The Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras is the highest division of football in Honduras. The league plays by the Latin American system Apertura and Clausura with ten teams.

In the 30s of the 20th century, the football experienced a surge of popularity in Honduras. In 1948, the League Mayor de Fútbol Francisco Morazán, was named after the Department to the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa ( → Francisco Morazán ), created.

CD Olimpia, CD Federal, CD Motagua, Argentina and Real CD España et al were the first clubs that played in the new league.
