List of cities in Jordan

The list of cities in Jordan provides an overview of the development of the population of the larger cities of the Near Eastern state of Jordan.

By far the largest metropolitan area in Jordan is Amman, with a population of 1,942,066 ( 2004 census ). This means that around 40 percent of people in the country live in the capital region.

The following table lists the cities with more than 15,000 inhabitants, whose name in German transcription and in Arabic as well as the results of the censuses ( VZ ) from December 10, 1994 and 2 October 2004. Listed is also the government, to which the city belongs. The population figures refer to the actual city without suburban belt.
