List of cities in Oman

The list of cities in Oman provides an overview of the development of the population of the larger cities of the Near Eastern country of Oman.

By far the largest metropolitan area in Oman is Muscat with a population of 632 073 ( Census 2003). Thus 27 percent of the country's population is concentrated in the capital region. In the city of Muscat 24 893 people live. So the capital is ranked only 26th largest city in Oman is Sib with 223 449 inhabitants.

The following table lists the cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants, whose name in German transcription and in Arabic as well as the results of the censuses ( VZ ) of 1 December 1993 and 7 December 2003. Listed is also the parent administrative unit ( province and region) to which the city belongs. The population figures refer to the community in its political boundaries, without politically independent suburbs.
