List of counts of Tonnerre

The county Tonnerre ( pagus Tornodorensis east of Auxerre and south of Troyes ) was founded in the 8th century as a fief of the Bishop of Langres. The Count House of Tonnerre occurs since the mid-9th century. By marriage the county of Bar-sur -Seine came to the family, but became extinct two generations later. Bar-sur -Seine went to the Count of Brienne, Tonnerre to the counts of Nevers and Auxerre.

Tonnerre, Nevers and Auxerre thereafter remained together until the division of 1273, Tonnerre and Auxerre were soon again, it remained until 1370 sold John IV of Chalon Auxerre in France and was limited to Tonnerre. When his grandson Louis II of Chalon for the kidnapping of Jeanne de Perellos, a Burgundian court lady, got into a confrontation with Duke John the Fearless and then turned against him politically, confiscated this 1414 Tonnerre. Philip the Good transferred the county to his brother- Arthur de Richemont, who later became Constable of France ( constable de Richemont ) and Arthur Herzog III. of Brittany ( 1457-1458 ). The Peace of Arras but she gave back the previous Graf family. In the meantime, however, the last male member of the family had died, the county was inherited by the descendants of a sister of the last count from her marriage to Olivier de Husson.
