William III, Count of Nevers

William III. (French Guillaume ) (* 1110, † November 21, 1161 ) was a Count of Nevers, Auxerre and Tonnerre out of the house Monceaux. He was a son of Count William II of Nevers and his wife Adelheid.

Wilhelm supported in 1137 the Count Geoffrey V of Anjou in the conquest of Normandy. Together with his brother Reynald he accompanied King Louis VII on the Second Crusade, where the brother was killed in the fighting in Asia Minor.

William died in 1161 and was buried in the Abbey of Saint -Germain in Auxerre. He was married to Ida von Sponheim († May 25, 1178 ), a daughter of the Duke Engelbert of Carinthia. Their children were:
