In the in 2006 concluded between the U.S. and Bulgaria defense cooperation agreement the U.S. armed forces will be allowed without a special permit from the Bulgarian authorities to use these bases for operations in other countries. The American military personnel is assured immunity that protects them from any prosecution in Bulgaria.
