Lock and Dam No. 10

Lock and Dam No. 10 ( lock and dam No. 10) is one of 28 dams that enable navigation on the upper Mississippi. Built in 1934-1937 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers combined building is located between Guttenberg in Clayton County, Iowa, and Grant County in Wisconsin.

Barrage

To barrage include a 6000 feet ( 1828.80 m) long stone dam with a spillway on the Wisconsin side and a 182.90 m long variable part, which consists of an eight -part segment weir and four jam rolls.

The dam height is nine feet (2.70 m). The purpose of the weir is not in the first line of flood protection, but the damming of the Mississippi for navigation.

Lock

The lock is 182.9 m long and 33.5 m wide.
