Lúčky, Žiar nad Hronom District

Lúčky ( German Honneshau or Honneshay, Hungarian Janosret - older even Lucska ) is a small town in central Slovakia circuit ( kraj ) Žiar nad Hronom. From 1980 to 1992 Lúčky was a part of the city Kremnica.

The municipality west of the city lying Kremnica first written in 1420, living there at that time mainly German speaking. This remained so until the end of World War II; then most of the residents were displaced, so that the total population of 1,500 was reduced to 37.

At the last census in 2001 reported 95.17 % of the population to be Slovaks. In addition, there were 2.42% Roma, 0.48 % Czechs and 1.93 % German.

The Lucky population is majority Roman Catholic ( 84.54 %). The remaining percent is distributed to non-religious or other faiths.
