The film Luna Papa ( папа Russian Лунный, Lunnyj dad) is an international tragi-comedy from 1999 directed by Bachtijar Chudojnasarow. ;, starring Chulpan Khamatova, Ato Muchamedschanow and Moritz Bleibtreu.

Action

The 17 -year-old Mamlakat lives with her father Safar and the disabled brother Nasreddin in a village in Uzbekistan. She dreams of becoming an actress. As a Tournée Theatre comes to town, she sees her chance. Mamlakat missed the theatrical performance, but she falls asleep the same night with one of the actors. When she later finds that she is pregnant, she does not know where and who the father is.

Mamlakat embarks on an adventurous journey to determine the identity of the father of her child and force him to marry her. Father and brother insist to accompany them, so that their name and honor might be saved. On the journey with an old car through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the family various bandits and a charming con man, in the Mamlakat falls encountered.

The film was shown in numerous European countries, where it reached a total of 600,000 visitors - most of them in Germany, where 175,000 visitors saw the movie, as well as in France and Italy, where more than 125,000 people attended each of the film. Awards

Bachtijar Chudojnasarow won the 1999 Golden Montgolfier the price of the Nantes Three Continents Festival and the Best Artistic Contribution Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival, and in 2000 the Golden Prometheus of the Tbilisi International Film Festival and the Jury Award at Bergen International Film Festival. The film won the 2000 Best Picture Golden Aries the Russian Guild of Film Critics. Chudojnasarow 2000 won two awards of the Internationaal Filmfestival van Brussel and was nominated for a third. Also on the Kinotawr - Festival 2000 in Sochi Luna Papa was awarded the Golden Rose.

Chudojnasarow won the 2001 for his directing of the Russian Film Award Nika. Actress Chulpan Khamatova, the film for Best Picture, the script and the sound were nominated for the same price.
